Ah, weddings! Like them or not, they're not only a lot of fun (or at least they should be) but also a great opportunity for us women to dress up in fabulous clothes! Of course that nobody wants to overshine the bride, but is it really our fault if that happens? We don't think about every single detail of our party look for nothing.Either we slay, or keep trying!
In order to be (one of) the best dressed guest(s) you have to be very careful about the choices you make. The main rule is that you must feel good in whatever you're wearing and rock it with confidence.Don't follow trends too much, because there's a chance that what is hot right now will soon be unfashionable. It's really not cool to wear something because everyone else is wearing it.I know that you can do better than that!Plus it's such a good feeling to know that you're considered original.
Putting on dresses is not only an exciting feeling, but also the main choice of most women. If you dare to defy them and want to stand out from the crowd, i have prepared some outfit suggestions that will make you look unforgettable.

Have you ever thought of skirts as a life saver? Especially for formal occasions, because most dresses can't be worn in many ways but a skirt can create several outfits.

Take a look at this glamorous skirt by Alberta Ferretti for Spring 2017.I love the multiple belts, but i know that maybe for some of you they will seem a little too much. Also, of you don't believe that a crop top is appropriate or you just don't think that you can pull it off, a shirt, an embellished top or any other top at your choice will be just fine.

A skirt that is without a doubt a must have is the simple black one.If you're more the classic type, then you can choose to wear it with a plain white shirt, add a brooch and a black pair of shoes and your outfit will be timeless.

Since it's so easy to wear it, the top can consist of anything you want. For example, look how drop dead gorgeus is this look by Tom Ford! The sequin tunic is just iconic!

Don't forget about the feather skirt.I personally love it and i don't understand why it's not that popular in women's wardrobes.

Who doesn't love a tille skort?Thank God for ballerinas, because the tutus get us out of many troubles.Cute, but also very elegant.

If in desperate need to sparkle, a sequin skirt is always a solution!

Fringes are not only in style, but they're also super fun.Don't forget to shake those fringes when you take photos!
2.The Power Suit

Have no fear in competing with men when it comes to suits. You can still look feminin and elegant in a blazer and a pair of trousers. The trick is to pay attention to the fabric of the suit and to accessorize it properly.
Don't be afraid to try bold colors or floral patterns and, last but not least, animal prints!

Your attiude is very important when wearing a suit, so you must act like a boss lady!

3.The Jumpsuit

The last suggestion i have for you is the jumpsuit. Not only that is sexy, but if it has wide legs then it will give the illusion that you're actually wearing a dress.

Another cool thing about them is that they show your curves.Who said that only dresses could to that?

So next time you see a fab jumpsuit in stores, buy it!

Either these outfits represent your style or not, you have to admit that they're eye-catching and ultra glam.Let me know if you're going to try one (or tell me if you already did) and also share your own ideas in the comment section below.
The Modern Duchess

Thursday, 3 September 2015

The 72nd annual Venice International Film Festival takes place this year from 2 to 12 September. After the mostly wacky outfits we've seen at the VMA's last week, this event is like a breath of fresh air when it comes to the way celebrities dress on the red carpetThey're classy, they're elegant and, of course, a delight to see. Here are the best looks:

Elisa Sednaoui in Armani

Elisa Sednaoui attended the premiere of "Everest" wearing a beautiful Armani Prive dress from the Spring 2015 collection and Buccellatti jewelry.

Elizabeth Banks in Dolce&Gabbana

It was a surprise, yet a pleasure, to see actress Elizabeth Banks at an European movie event because it's the first time she attends one.No need to say that she looked stunning in a Dolce&Gabbana white dress.

Diane Kruger in Prada

I said it before and i'll say it again: Diane Kruger is always perfection on the red carpet! She chose a beautiful Prada dress that made her look like royalty.

Paz Vega in Ralph&Russo

Paz Vega rarely dissappoints on the red carpet and this time she was a beauty in one of my favorite gowns from Ralph&Russo's Fall Couture 2015 collection. This dress had a tulle train attached to it, but i prefer the way Paz wore it.

Kasia Smutniak in Valentino

Katia Smutniak looked lovely in a Valentino Fall 2015 gown. She reminded me of a fairy, a very fashionable one.

If you are among those people that grew up watching MTV then you definitely know that the VMA's were a big deal and everyone wanted to see who won, who was present, what celebrities wore on the red carpet or who performed that night. The event took place in Los Angeles,California and eventhough you might not be as excited about the show as you used to be before, i bet you still want to see the best and worst outfits worn last night.Don't wait to see Beyonce or Rihanna, because they didn't attend the show.

Miley Cyrus wearing Versace outfits

Let's start with Miley Cyrus, who was the host of the show and wore some very revealing Versace outfits.I know there will be many comments about the way she looks, but it's not a surprise anymore that she only wears shocking clothes.I was also not very impressed because the VMA's have a large history of celebrities that wore even more scandalous outfits than she did.My eyes did hurt a little though by just looking at her.

Taylor Swift wearing an Ashish outfit

Taylor Swift is the new Britney of today's generation and she is one of those singers that teenagers can't wait to see on the red carpet. She wore a sparkly outfit by Ashish fit for a pop princess.

Selena Gomez in Calvin Klein

While some showed a lot of skin, Selena Gomez  chose a black Calvin Klein dress that covered most of her body.

FGA Twigs in Atelier Versace

Versace was also the choice of British singer FGA Twigs who whore a see-through dress from the brand's haute couture collection.

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj didn't miss the show either and was a gold goddess in a long dress with a deep plunge.

Rita Ora

Rita Ora had the same type of cleavage as Nicki Minak and her dress was full of feathers.

Britney Spears

Of course that we expected to see Britney wearing something sparkly, short and sexy.

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato looked pretty in pink in a mini dress.

I don't think that i have ever seen Ciara not looking beautiful and last night wasn't an exception either.

American singer Halsey wore a sexy jumpsuit.

Bella Thorne in Maria Lucia Hohan

Bella Thorne looked lovely in a Maria Lucia Hohan dresss.

Vanessa Hudgens in Naeem Khan

Vanessa Hudgens matched her romantic hairstyle with a beautiful bohemian dress by Naeem Khan.

Hailee Steinfeld in Stella McCartney

One of my favorites was Hailee Steinfeld who looked very minimalistic in a white Stella McCartney jumpsuit matched with gold sandals and jewelry.

Serayah wore a white see-through fringed dress matched with white sandals.

Cara Delevingne in Saint Laurent

There is not even one event today that can take place without a quie large number of supermodels attending it.Cara Delevingne who also started acting, Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid are three of the most famous models out there and wore efortlessly chic outfits.

Gigi Hadid
Karlie Kloss in Louis Vuitton

If some models chose not to overdress, others like Lily Aldridge and Chrissy Teigen wore a little more sophisticated dresses.

Chrissy Teigen in Marchesa

And there was Emily Ratajkowski, the one that caught everyone's attention in the "Blurred Lines" video, wearing a rock'n' roll Altuzarra oufit that put her right in between the relaxed style of Cara,Gigi and Karlie and the elegant looks of Chrissy and Lily.

Emily Ratajkowski in Altuzarra

Blac Chyna and Amber Rose

Although, the VMA's are supposed to be for singers only, actresses and professional models are also a part of the guests. And then, there are those kind of guests that, well, are not exactly known for something in particular but there are present everywhere.Blac Chyna and Amber Rose wore matching outfit with some very "interesting" words on them.

Kourtney Kardashian and Kylie Jenner in Balmain

And then there is another category that everyone's familiar with lately: the Kardashians. We still don't know why are they supposed to be famous, but they are absolutely everywhere. As you might already know, the girls are Balmain's loyal clients and it was obvious that they were going to wear something made by Olivier Rousteing, the designer of the fashion house.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

And the last but not least, Kim Kardashian wearing a Balmain dress with her husband Kanye West, the "happiest" man on Earth.

Don't foget to leave a comment below and tell me which celebrity was your best dressed and which one was the worst dressed at the VMA's.

When i was in kindergarden, i was asked what i wanted to be when i grew up.My answer?I wanted to be a bride. While i don't remember this story, my aunt recently shared it with me.To be honest, i didn't expect that   reaction from me and i would've imagined that i wished to become an actress since i loved movies so much, but also because now i'm not that type of girl that thinks too much about marriage. Then i remembered that at that time i had a beautiful doll dressed in a fabulous wedding gown and all i wanted was to look like her one day.I do remember that i actually took the doll to the Christmas festivity and it instantly became the star of the show because every girl wanted to hold her and told their parents that they wanted to have one just like mine.

The truth is that most women start thinking about their big day from a very young age.Since we are children, in our eyes the big day is not about gettting an important job, getting a promotion or being the best at something. The big day equals getting married. While it's nothing wrong with that and it's a wonderful thing to do if you love someone and you are ready to start a family, i feel like people should stop putting that kind of pressure on little girls and let them dream a little bigger.
My parents were never the kind that talked about marriage like it's the ultimate thing for a girl to do and never pressured me about it.The problem is when you constantly hear other people ( who come in a large number) saying to girls that are about 19-20 that the next big step is to get a husband. They try to fix them up because everyone has boys, nephews, neighbours or cousins that are single. When they ask them if they have a boyfriend and they say no, they look at them with pitty saying: "Don't worry, you'll find one".And what happens when the girls don't like none of the boys that they're introduced to or they simply say that they're good on their own?Of course, they too picky and nothing is good enough for them!
And then there are the women that reach a certain age and when i say "certain age" i mean over 24-25 and are still single. If they already are over 30 and don't have a ring on their finger  is considered as a tragedy for most people. They might win a Nobel prize and they wouldn't care that much:"Yes, it's a great achievement, but the poor girl is single".
Just because you are a girl, it doesn't mean that you should only be married, cooking and taking care of the children. You can do all of these things one day, after you do whatever you want to do for yourself first. You should live a little before you make such an important step and you should be mature enough to start a family.
Being single might be a little sad sometimes, but it's not as sad as being married to someone just because you had to or everyone was doing it and you wanted to be a part of the trend.Like it or not, that's why most girls get married. After all the excitement for the wedding preparations and the actual wedding day, there is nothing much left if the reason you got into this was only because you thought it was the right thing to do.
You can get married at 20 or at 40, it doesn't really matter. All you have to do is to be sure about it and to be in love. But love likes to give us a hard time because it's not easy to find it or to stick to it.It comes at the right time, not when we want it to come. So, work on your future and make sure to check for the love signs once in a while because you wouldn't want to miss them.
Spread your wings,girls!

It's been a while since i posted something, but unfortunately i don't have time to take care of the blog.I thought that i should make it up to all of you who still visit it and create an article about spicing up your outfit. We women get bored of wearing the same clothes over and over again and our main natural instinct is to go shopping for new items. When buying something though, you have to think carefully if it's worth it and if there is more than one way that you could wear it.My advice is to focus more on accessories and jewelry, because they can change your whole look and make it seem like it's brand new.

image via pinterest
Today we're going to talk about how armour inspired accessories are actually worth having in your closet and how they can add extra glamour to your evening wear. The jeweled body armour from the picture above will look absolutely fabulous over a simple dress and you can wear it over anything you like.As much as i like this idea, i have to state the obvious: it's quite difficult to find such luxurious and beautiful body accessory and if you do find it, it's probably going to be quite expensive. But is it worth it?Oh,yes!

image via pinterest
An even more luxurious idea is the one presented in the picture above.I don't know about you, but my dream is to be able to cover myself in jewelry. This exquisite piece can also be worn over a plain dress. Both will cover almost the whole front side of your dress.

If you think that the other pieces are too much, you can choose something more simple like these one shoulder epaulettes. The best thing about them is that they're not that hard to do them yourself. For example, for the one presented in the second picture you will need some chains, feathers and some small jewelry. It doesn't take long to put them together if you're crafty, plus it will look fantastic! The one made from pearls can also be recreated if you buy a string of pearls ( they don't have to be expensive) and a brooch.

A third way of wearing epaulettes is on your shoulders and they can also have chains or any other extra accessories. If the jeweled body armours are too pretentious and can be worn mainly over dresses, these babies can decorate you coats, your blazers, dresses and tops.

So, this is today's idea of recreating an old look with some exquisite body accessories. It's great if you can find them in stores or you can make something similar yourself.Another solution would be to go to a taylor, so they can do them for you.I will try to recreate one of these beauties and i will post the final result and give you extra tips.Have a nice day!
